COVID-19 Cases 04/08

(Lehigh, PA) -- COVID-19 cases are continuing to rise throughout the state. Health officials say yesterday, the state total saw an increase of more than 46-hundred new cases, pushing it over one-million-54-thousand. About 48 new deaths related to the virus were added to the death toll, which is at 25-thousand-285. Lehigh Valley added 277 new cases to its regional total, bumping it to 66-thousand-635.

(Harrisburg, PA) -- COVID-19 hospitalizations are on the rise. Health officials say in mid-March, the state had about 14-hundred-33 Pennsylvanians hospitalized with the virus, but it has since increased by nearly one-thousand people to sit at 23-hundred-84. Also, new virus cases have increased by 73-percent since the beginning of March. This comes after the state reached a milestone of having given at least one-dose of the vaccine to a little over 35-percent of all vaccine eligible groups.
