A man wanted for the fatal shooting of a woman in Manheim Borough, Pennsylvania, was found dead in Cullman, Alabama, from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Michael Anthony Boccia, 36, was accused of killing 37-year-old Keshia Gonzalez on Monday (June 1) at her apartment on North Main Street.
Authorities tracked Boccia to Cullman after he called the Manheim Borough Police Department around 11 p.m. on Monday, threatening to commit suicide. Police issued a Be On the Lookout (BOLO) alert for his maroon 2013 Toyota Avalon, which was found by Cullman police backed into a parking space with its lights off. During a high-risk stop, Boccia shot himself and was pronounced dead at a local hospital, according to the Lancaster County District Attorney's Office.
Boccia faced charges of homicide, assault, and firearms violations related to the shooting of Gonzalez. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots and Gonzalez yelling for help. Surveillance footage showed Boccia arriving at Gonzalez's apartment and later fleeing the scene. Police found shell casings near Gonzalez's body, as reported by Crimewatch.net.
The Alabama State Bureau of Investigation is conducting an independent investigation into Boccia's death. Lancaster County detectives are assisting Manheim Borough police with the ongoing investigation of the homicide.
