Global Advanced Metals Facility Coming To Southeast Pennsylvania

Global Advanced Metals, an Australian company, is expanding its presence in the United States with a new facility in Southeast Pennsylvania. The announcement was made by President Donald Trump during a White House roundtable on American mining. The new factory will produce critical materials, such as tantalum and niobium, to support advanced defense and aerospace systems.

The facility will be located in Colebrookdale Township, where Global Advanced Metals already operates a plant. President Trump emphasized the importance of the new plant, stating, "Together we are reawakening the spirit of the Gold Rush." The initiative is backed by a $25 million investment from the Export-Import Bank to support electronics, magnets, and steel production.

Pennsylvania plays a significant role in the mining industry, with Penn State's main campus housing one of only 14 accredited mining schools in the country. The new facility is expected to contribute to the state's economy and provide training opportunities for future industry professionals.

Global Advanced Metals is known for its focus on sustainability, as demonstrated by its Boyertown facility's certification for producing tantalum products from 100% recycled sources. The company has a longstanding relationship with the U.S. Department of Defense, supplying critical minerals for various applications.

The new facility is expected to face challenges, including ensuring compliance with environmental and safety standards. However, the expansion represents a significant step forward in strengthening the U.S. aerospace and defense industrial base.
