>>P-I-Double-A Says It Is Tremendously Disappointed With Wolf’s Sports Recommendation

(Mechanicsburg, PA) -- Officials with the P-I-Double-A say they are tremendously disappointed with Governor Tom Wolf’s recommendation to suspend all sports until January 2021. In a statement yesterday evening, they said they have worked diligently to develop health and safety plans to allow students the safe return to interscholastic athletics. Their board of directors will meet this afternoon to review the action. A spokesperson for Governor Wolf said the administration is providing this strong recommendation, but it is not an order or mandate.

>>P-S-U Confirms No Fans In Stands For Fall Sports

(State College, PA) -- The Penn State Nittany Lions’ roar will be softer this football season. The university’s Sandy Barbour confirmed Thursday there will be no fans in the stands for Penn State sports this fall. In the letter, Barbour referenced the Wolf administration’s current virus-mitigation guidance which limits large group gatherings to 250 people for outside events and 25 people for inside events.

(York, PA) -- York College representatives say they are getting campus ready for students to return. Classes will resume on August 24th with what they call a high flex plan that allows students the flexibility to take classes in person or online. York College’s President Doctor Pamela Gunter-Smith says everyone has to find a way to continue on and the best way to do that is through personal responsibility.

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Officials with the P-A Department of Health are reporting 807 new COVID-19 cases across the Commonwealth. That brings the statewide total to 116-thousand-521 confirmed or probable cases of coronavirus since the start of the pandemic. Thursday’s announcement raised the death toll by 38 to seven-thousand-282.

(Harrisburg, PA) -- State officials are going to pick up the cost of the stamp if you plan to mail in your ballot this fall. It’s believed that decision to cover the 55-cent stamp will cost several million dollars. The funds needed will be taken from the federal coronavirus relief bill.

(North Middleton Twp., PA) -- Police in North Middleton Township are warning residents of scammers trying to collect Social Security Numbers. They say the crooks claim your social security number has been jeopardized while trying to dupe the victim into thinking they are verifying their personal information. It’s reported the scammers may even threaten legal action without immediate payment. Police say anyone who gets this call should hang up and immediately call 9-1-1.

>>Another Sinkhole Repair In Palmyra

(Palmyra, PA) -- Repair crews are again fixing a sinkhole in Palmyra. This time a 15-foot deep hole opened Tuesday night in the parking lot of the Sinkhole Saloon on Route 422. Heavy rain is being blamed for causing the hole to open earlier this week, though PennDOT officials say the repair job on the road itself is holding up nicely.

(Lancaster, PA) -- Police in Lancaster are investigating at shooting Thursday. It happened on the 200-blcok of South Anne Street, leaving one man injured. He was taken to the hospital for treatment and was last listed in an unknown condition. Investigators are speaking to witnesses and reviewing surveillance footage in the area.

(Harrisburg, PA) -- A teen is facing charges for a shooting in Harrisburg that left one person injured. Nicari Williams allegedly shot the victim several times near North Sixth and Division streets July 27th. Williams, who plays football and basketball for the Harrisburg Cougars, is considered one of the Midstate’s top high school basketball players.

>>Investigators Working To Determine Cause Of Death For Two Carlisle High School Graduates

(Carlisle, PA) -- Investigators are trying to determine what led to the death of two women in Cumberland County last week. Sydney Parmelee and Kaylee Lyons both died in Carlisle, but their cause of death hasn’t been determined yet. The two reportedly graduated together from Carlisle High School in 2014.
