>Two People Dead After Crash In Berks County

(Longswamp Township, PA) -- Two people are dead after a crash in Berks County. The accident happened this past Tuesday night on State Street near Tower Road in Longswamp Township. Officials say a vehicle hit a patch of ice that sent it into oncoming traffic before it was struck head-on by another vehicle. Both drivers, a 22-year-old and a 24-year-old, were pronounced dead at the scene.

(Bethel Township, PA) -- A packaging-manufacturer is seeking to fill a lot of open positions at its new plant in Berks County. Officials for Pregis announced yesterday that it is going to be hiring about 80 people to help run its new 300-thousand-square-foot plant in Bethel Township. The open manufacturing jobs will produce lightweight, recyclable all-paper cushioned mailers for the company's online retail customers. Officials say the company is expected to start operating the new plant in Bethel in early May of this year.

>>Crash In Lancaster County Kills One Person

(East Hempfield Township, PA) -- Authorities are investigating the cause of a two-vehicle crash that killed one person in Lancaster County. The accident happened yesterday afternoon on Route 30, west of Rohrerstown Road in East Hempfield Township. Authorities say a sedan crashed into the side of a tractor-trailer. The driver of the sedan was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but later died due to his injuries. Anyone who may have been a witness of the accident is being asked to contact the East Hempfield Township Police Department.

>>Western Berks Ambulance Temporarily Moves Office

(Spring Township, PA) -- The Western Berks Ambulance Association is moving its office to a new location for the time being. The association announced yesterday that it has temporarily moved to a rented space on Quarry Drive in Spring Township. Officials say ambulances are stationed at the Spring Township Fire Department and the old Lower Heidelberg Fire Company. The association will be at the new location while construction crews repair its old office damaged by a fire last month.

>>Kutztown University To Host In-Person Commencement Ceremony This Year

(Maxatawny Township, PA) -- Students at Kutztown University are going to be able to attend their graduation ceremony in-person this year. The university announced yesterday that this spring's commencement ceremony will be held in-person on the weekend of May 7th through the 9th. The ceremony will have required COVID-19 safety guidelines in place including mask-wearing and social-distancing.
