Zoning Board Hears Re-Vamped Proposal for Former Santander Office Building

(Reading, PA) -- A Brooklyn real estate development company is asking again that the Reading Zoning Board consider their plans for the former Santander office building. In September of last year, the board rejected Heights Advisors' adaptive reuse of the same building as a 228-room hotel, which could have also included apartment units. At that time, board members said the company didn't provide specific-enough details of the proposed mix uses and because the application didn't offer off-street parking. Now, the developer is proposing to convert the building into 207 apartments that would range from efficiencies to two-bedrooms. The board is expected to offer a decision at its meeting June 14th.
