>>Santander Bank Closing Call Center, 77 Workers Laid Off

(Reading, PA) -- Santander Bank officials say they're closing a call center in Reading that will affect nearly 80 workers. In a notice this week to the state, the bank says the layoffs come ahead of what bank leaders call "an eventual exit" from the facility at 450 Penn Street. The notice says the employees will be able to apply for other bank jobs. A company website shows the Spanish multinational bank has six branches in Berks County and just under two-trillion-dollars in assets, as of the end of last year.
