Reading Council Proposes Funds For Remediating Blight

(Reading, PA) -- The Reading City Council is considering a measure to spend 500-thousand-dollars towards blight remediation. The proposal calls for allocating city coronavirus relief funds to the Reading Redevelopment Authority to address blight. The authority would use the money to purchase and clean up or demolish blighted properties. Council President Donna Reed says blight is an issue in the city, and stronger code enforcement is needed to address the problem.
