Bids for Broken Down Reading Properties to Start at $1

(Reading, PA) -- The Reading City Council is considering a measure to spend 500-thousand-dollars towards blight remediation. The proposal calls for allocating city coronavirus relief funds to the Reading Redevelopment Authority to purchase and clean up or demolish blighted properties. The authority also plans to auction off four properties, according to online marketplace Bid4Assets. Bids could start at one dollar for the broken-down parcels. Council President Donna Reed says blight is an issue in the city, and stronger code enforcement is needed to address the problem.
