(Lancaster, PA) -- Pitcher Matt Swarmer, a product of Governor Mifflin High and Kutztown University has signed a deal to play for the Lancaster Barnstormers. The 29-year-old righty was released last month by the Atlanta Braves while with Triple-A Gwinnett. Lancaster manager Ross Peeples said in a news release that Swarmer will help the team in its push for the playoffs. Swarmer was a 19th-round draft pick by the Chicago Cubs in 2016 and made his major league debut last May for Chicago.
