Public Water Suppliers Still Requesting Water Conservation
(Reading, PA) -- Twenty-one public water suppliers are still requesting water conservation in central and eastern Pennsylvania. State officials with the Department of Environmental Protection say the region is still under a drought watch as September begins. The DEP says these kind of watch declarations aren't based on one indicator alone, such as rainfall. The department also assesses stream and river flow, groundwater level and soil moisture as well as information from public water suppliers. The drought watch has been in effect for the region since the end of July.
