Reading Mission Receives Grants For Transitional Housing
(Reading, PA) -- Hope Rescue Mission in Reading is receiving one and a half-million-dollars in grants to help homeless people find permanent homes. The grants from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Pittsburgh will be used to renovate a property on South Ninth Street into transitional housing. Hope Rescue Mission has already transformed two nearby buildings into individual apartments for homeless men. Officials say the project will have a dual benefit, helping homeless people while reviving blighted properties in the city.
