Fire That Destroyed Berks Group Home Ruled Accidental

(Reading, PA) -- A fire that destroyed a group home in Berks has been ruled accidental. Four people who lived at the Cumru Township residence were displaced in the blaze that happened April 11th. Officials believe it originated within a rear wall of the house, inside a space behind the gas fireplace. The residents were placed in other houses run by owner Dayspring Homes. The faith-based organization provides residential services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. A spokeswoman for the organization says they plan to rebuild the home on the site.
