Reading Small Grocery Owner Recognized With National Award
(Reading, PA) -- A small-business owner in Reading has been awarded a national honor by the U.S. Small Business Administration. Leopoldo Sanchez and his Super Natural & Fresh Produce grocery store were recognized Tuesday. He was honored for serving Reading residents who otherwise wouldn't have access to healthy, affordable food due to income, location or transportation issues. Sanchez, who grew up in the Dominican Republic, has expanded his operation to include stores in Scranton and Lancaster over the past ten years. He's also converting a former maintenance garage in Reading to a complex that will include a grocery store, a produce warehouse, a café and a tortilla factory at North Fourth and Elm Streets.
