Reading Fire Marshal Issues Safety Warning

(Reading, PA) -- Reading Fire officials are warning residents to stay safe if they choose to cool down in the Schuylkill River. Fire Marshal Jeremy Searfoss says if you can't swim you shouldn't be in the river, and to wear a flotation device if you still choose to do so. Searfoss added that jumping off an elevated platform into the river is also a bad idea, as you don't know if you're going to land in deep or shallow water. The city says there are other ways to cool off during the heatwave, including splash pads.
