Luis Santos-Cruz, a suspect in a fatal shooting in Reading, Pennsylvania, has been extradited from New York City to Berks County. Santos-Cruz, 19, appeared in court on Wednesday night (January 22) following his arrest by U.S. Marshals in October. He is one of three individuals charged in the death of 19-year-old Christian Disla, who was shot on April 1 in the 1300 block of Muhlenberg Street.
According to WFMZ, Santos-Cruz faces charges of first- and third-degree murder, conspiracy, and firearms offenses. He is currently held without bail in Berks County Prison, awaiting a court hearing next month.
Santos-Cruz's brother, Jonielle Cruz, was arrested in May and charged as an adult with similar offenses. A third suspect, Gavin E. Will, was arrested in November and also charged as an adult. Both remain in custody without bail.
The shooting incident occurred after a confrontation at a corner store, where Santos-Cruz and his accomplices allegedly attacked a second victim. Security footage shows Santos-Cruz firing a handgun, resulting in Disla's death from a gunshot wound to the back. The second victim survived the attack.
Yahoo News reports that the Berks County District Attorney's office approved charging Jonielle Cruz and Gavin E. Will as adults. All three suspects are awaiting further legal proceedings.
