>Officials Look To Preserve Reading History With Proposed Ordinance
(Reading, PA) -- Reading City Council is proposing a new ordinance that would help preserve and repurpose building artifacts before demolitions. The move is an effort to save things like stained glass, marble fireplaces, doors, moldings, and more. Executive Director of the Centre Park Historic District, Michael Lauter, said the relationship between the city and the Artifacts Bank has been "on again, off again." He says the ordinance would solidify a working relationship, no matter who was in charge.
