>>Berks County Adapts ICE Detainment Policy
(READING, PA) -- Berks County is extending the amount of time it will detain jail inmates wanted by immigration officers. The county has enacted a policy allowing corrections officers to hold detainees for up to two days after their detention is completed to give ICE agents additional time to take them into custody. Previously, the inmate would be released after four hours. Berks Commissioner Christian Leinbach said the policy was changed after a request from ICE in the past week.
