Schwank Proposes Legislation Following Report On RM Palmer Explosion
(West Reading, PA) -- A Berks County lawmaker wants to make changes following the release of the final report on the 2023 explosion at the RM Palmer factory. State Senator Judy Schwank is cosponsoring three bills based on recommendations made by the National Transportation Safety Board. The bills aim to improve communication between the NTSB and the Public Utility Commission, register underground steam lines with the Pennsylvania One Call system, and increase the number of natural gas detectors in buildings where people congregate. Schwank said the bills are a way to move forward with measures that could prevent another tragedy from happening in the future.
