Human Remains Found in Berks County, Investigation Ongoing

An investigation is underway in Berks County, Pennsylvania, after human remains were discovered in a wooded area off Interstate 176 in Cumru Township on Monday (April 28). Authorities responded to the scene around 2:30 p.m. after receiving a report of possible human remains between the Green Hills and Route 724 exits.

According to the Berks County District Attorney’s Office and the Cumru Township Police Department, the remains are believed to be that of a female and were found in an advanced state of decomposition, indicating they had been there for a long time. A grid search was conducted by detectives and police to collect potential evidence, which has been transported for further analysis.

District Attorney John T. Adams stated that investigators are awaiting the results of an autopsy conducted on Tuesday (April 29) to determine how long the body had been in the woods.
