A vehicle crash in Hamburg, Pennsylvania, on Thursday (June 19) left more than 2,000 people without electricity. According to WFMZ-TV, the incident occurred when a Jeep collided with a power pole that had a transformer on top. The crash affected approximately 2,700 Met-Ed customers, primarily in the Hamburg area.

Witnesses reported seeing two individuals inside the vehicle, including a child, both of whom appeared to be unharmed. Met-Ed crews responded swiftly, performing a remote disconnect of the electric grid in the area to facilitate the restoration of power. By Thursday evening, power had been successfully restored to all affected customers.

Local residents shared their experiences during the outage. Taylor Golden, a Hamburg resident, mentioned, "I was making dinner...and was really excited — Juneteenth and all — making some ribs, and it just went out, and I was kind of upset." Gregory Katerman, another resident, added, "Popped outside and saw tons of people coming out of their homes, and we weren't sure what was up."
