Miguel Reyes, a 55-year-old resident of Reading, Pennsylvania, has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies, including rape of a child, indecent assault, corruption of minors, and endangering the welfare of children. According to NBC Philadelphia, the charges stem from allegations that Reyes sexually abused a young girl over several years, beginning when she was five years old.
The investigation into Reyes began in April 2025 after the Berks County District Attorney’s Office received a report from the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services. The victim, now 17, disclosed during a forensic interview that the abuse occurred at a home on the 400 block of South Seventh Street in Reading.
Reading Eagle reports that when Reyes learned of the allegations, he sent multiple text and audio messages to the victim's mother, pleading for forgiveness and asking her not to involve the authorities. In one message, Reyes admitted, "I know I messed up real bad. There are no words to say sorry."
Reyes was arrested on Tuesday (August 5) and is currently held at the Berks County Jail, unable to post a $150,000 bail. He awaits a hearing following his arraignment before District Judge Alvin B. Robinson.
