Baseball is almost back in Baseballtown. The Reading Fightin Phils will open the 2026 season on the road before bringing Minor League Baseball back to Reading, Pennsylvania, next month — and they're planning the biggest giveaway in franchise history to welcome fans home.
According to the team, the R-Phils will kick off the 2026 campaign on Thursday (April 2) with a road series against the Akron RubberDucks. Three games later, the action shifts to America's Classic Ballpark when Reading hosts the Hartford Yard Goats on Tuesday (April 7) for the home opener at Diamond Credit Union Plaza.
That first home game will be one to remember. The first 4,000 adult fans through the gates will receive a free Baseballtown Connect Jersey and Hat combo — marking the first time in Baseballtown history that both a jersey and a hat have been given away together on Opening Night.
The snapback hat features a powder blue crown, a bold red brim, and a navy blue script "Town" logo with white baseball stitching — part of the team's newly unveiled "Baseballtown Connect" uniform line, which celebrates 60 years of affiliation with the Philadelphia Phillies.
The full 2026 home schedule includes 69 games across 12 series at FirstEnergy Stadium. First pitch on Opening Night is set for 6:45 p.m., with gates opening at 4:30 p.m. The team encourages fans to arrive early to secure their giveaway items.
Opening Night festivities will also include a pre-game concert, a happy hour, and on-field player introductions. On the field, the R-Phils are expected to feature several top Philadelphia Phillies prospects, including Aroon Escobar, Dante Nori, and Carson DeMartini.
The 2026 season marks the R-Phils' 60th year as the Double-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies — a milestone the organization is calling its "Diamond Anniversary." Manager Al Pedrique returns for his fourth season at the helm, having guided the team to 173 wins from 2023 through 2025, which ranks ninth-most in franchise history.
Reading will also host a preseason exhibition game against the High-A Jersey Shore BlueClaws on Tuesday (March 31) at 5 p.m. at FirstEnergy Stadium, giving fans an early look at the 2026 squad before the regular season begins.
Tickets for Opening Night and all 69 home games are on sale now. Fans can purchase single-game tickets at rphils.com, call 610-370-BALL, or visit the Customers Bank Ticket Office in person. Season ticket plans, mini plans, and group outings are also available.
