A house fire on Reading's south side displaced eight people Friday (March 6), but no injuries were reported, according to WFMZ.

Firefighters were called to the 200 block of Chapel Terrace around 10 a.m. after a structure fire broke out on the first floor and spread to a neighboring home. Officials confirmed no one was inside the homes when the blaze began.

The American Red Cross was contacted to help the eight displaced residents find temporary shelter. Firefighters noted that snowy conditions and tight streets made it harder to access the scene.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
