(Lancaster, PA) -- State Represenative Mark Gillen, a Republican who represents Berks and Lancaster, has issued a statement saying he's tested positive for Covid-19. On Monday, the lawmaker said he's currently experiencing mild symptoms and plans to work from home in quarantine. He adds that he contracted the virus while travelling outside of the state and that his status shouldn't have any effect on his workers in the state Capitol or district office staff.

(Reading, PA) -- Reading's city council has come up with a unique solution to a dam that's been deemed high-risk by the Department of State's Environmental Protection Agency. Some four years ago, they said Bernhart Dam would need to be removed or replaced. The city councilors Monday night agreed to offer a contract to break the dam for a little over 89-thousand dollars. The dam is in Muhlenberg Township but is owned by the city. Bernhart Park, where the dam is located, is contaminated with lead from a former Exide Technologies plant.

(Ebensburg, PA) -- A 71-year-old man from Elizabethtown has been shot in the head and died while on a hunting trip on the first day of the deer season. Cambria County coroner Jeff Lees says William Tripp was shot in the head by a juvenile relative on Saturday. It happened as he was with a group of family and friends in Jackson Township. The coroner says the child was aiming at a deer some 300 yards away and missed. The autopsy released Sunday confirms the death was accidental.

(East Lampeter, PA) -- A man who was carried out of his burning house by a neighbor last month has died of unrelated causes. His family announced that Barry Flory died last Tuesday due to complications from multiple cancers. His mother Dolores "Dee" Zimmerman says Flory was saved by his neighbor Katrina Aviles on October 25th. His oxygen tank had caught fire. Aviles was returning home she noticed smoke coming from Flory's residence and ran inside and carried him away from the blaze. Flory, who would have turned 69 years old next month, was buried Sunday.

(Reading, PA) -- Former TV reality star and current Pennsylvania resident Jon Gosselin is reportedly recovering from a venomous spider bite. He told The Sun Newspaper he was bitten by a venomous brown recluse spider while sleeping in his home in Reading, Pennsylvania. Gosselin says the wound area is finally healing after he spent a week in the hospital. The former TLC personality said, "Let's face it, it hasn't been my year." Earlier in 2021, the father of eight contracted COVID and split from girlfriend, Colleen Conrad, after nearly seven years together.
