(Pottsville, PA) -- A portion of the Interstate-81 roadway that has been closed since the chain-reaction accidents there Monday may re-open sometime Wednesday morning. Officials say some vehicles were still being cleared from the area throughout the day Tuesday. The road's surface is still being repaired as well. The pile-up claimed five lives and sent more than 20 people to the hospital.

(Pottsville, PA) -- Officials have released the death toll from a mass casualty accident on Interstate-81 Monday near Pottsville. The chain-reaction pile-up left five people dead and nearly 25 injured. Officials say the wrecks was caused by sudden whiteout snow conditions on what were already slick roads. Three semi-trailers and two smaller vehicles caught fire and more than 50 vehicles were involved.
