A judge has ruled that there is enough evidence to go to trial for Carlos Almanzar-Torres, who's accused in a shooting at a convenience store last month. More troopers are now patrolling state roads as part of a new campaign to stop aggressive driving.

(Reading, PA) -- The Reading City Council has announced it will vote on choosing its newest member at a special meeting next Monday. Five people have applied to represent District One on the council and they were interviewed by councilors Wednesday night. The vacancy was created by a member resigning last month. The council has to approve and appoint a replacement within 30 days.

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Governor Tom Wolf has signed a bill into law that temporarily extends the suspensions of COVID regulations and statutes. The current waivers were set to expire Thursday night. Many of the suspensions relate to administrative waivers, appointments and prolonging on-site inspections. The governor's office says the on-going suspensions allow the state to keep recovering from the pandemic.

(Lancaster, PA) -- A judge has ruled Wednesday that there is enough evidence to hold a trial for Carlos Almanzar-Torres. The 21-year-old has reportedly admitted his part in the shooting death of Damian Santiago over an unpaid cell phone debt. The shooting happened inside the A-Plus store on Orange Street on March 14th. Almanzar-Torres is being held without bail until his next court date.

(Lancaster, PA) -- If you've noticed more state troopers on patrol this week, you're not imagining things. That's because they've launched a new campaign to stop aggressive driving. State police say many crashes can be prevented by drivers slowing down and getting rid of distractions. The enforcement campaign runs through April 24th.
