Proposals Consider Creating One-Way Streets to Increase Parking Spaces
(Reading, PA) -- The City of Reading has some ideas for adding to the number of on-street parking spaces in the southeast part of the city. The Reading Parking Authority's executive director says the mayor wants to turn Cotton Street into a one-way as it heads west. Nathan Matz told a city council session Monday night that having one travel lane on Cotton Street would create 180 additional spaces on both sides of the street. Matz says the area could also accommodate a bike lane. A second idea is to make South Street a single-lane, one-way street traveling east.
