>>Police Help Parents See How Drugs are Marketed to Kids
(Reading, PA) -- A recent police presentation to parents in the Exeter Township School District has raised awareness about how drugs are made more appealing to kids. Detective Sergeant Rocco DeCamillo said in his session that many people create synthetic drugs that are chemically-produced and disguised as gummies and other sweet treats. He also walked participants through what drugs police are currently seeing that are sold and used in the area. Schools Superintendent Dr. Christy Haller told parents it's important to stress that kids not take food or candy from other people because they can't always tell whether they're laced with drugs.
>>Disruptions to Route 23 / Walnut Street Start This Friday
(Lancaster Co., PA) -- Blasting work will start this Friday on a ten-month road expansion project along Route 23. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation says the work will affect traffic along Walnut Street in East Lampeter Township. The blasting is set to happen between 1 and 2 p.m. Friday and continue for two weeks. The work will close the off-ramp from westbound Route 30 to westbound Route 23/Walnut Street and on the reverse eastbound ramp, as well.

(Lancaster, PA) - A expo conference geared toward Black businesses gets underway in Lancaster today. Promoters say the event, held at Park City Mall, will help companies and small businesses develop an economic structure outside of traditional stores and business systems. The expo runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Thursday.
>>Temporary Harriet Tubman Statue Presented
(Lancaster, PA) -- The African American Cultural Alliance of Lancaster has unveiled a temporary statue of Harriet Tubman. The statue sits on the city's southeast side, a short distance from Martin Luther King Junior Elementary School. Harriet Tubman was an American abolitionist best known for her role in the underground railroad that helped to free slaves in the 1800s. Organizers who helped get the travelling statue displayed say the inscription, "Journey to Freedom" also represents challenges still faced by many Black people.
>>Community Foundation Accepting Applications For Over 100 Scholarships
(Reading, PA) -- The Berks County Community Foundation is accepting applications for over 100 scholarships. The funds support Berks County high-school seniors, as well as non-traditional students and some who are already out of high school. Students must complete a single online application to be matched to a qualifying scholarship. The deadline to apply is March 1, 2023. Promoters say the Community Foundation has given more than 10-million-dollars to local students since it was founded nearly 30 years ago.
