(Reading, PA) -- Cumru Township Police say a one-year-old girl has died after an early morning fire in which she was trapped on the third floor of a home. Lt. George Kuriger Junior says that when officers arrived on the scene of the three-alarm fire early Saturday morning in the seven-hundred block of Philadelphia Avenue, they were told everyone had gotten out of the home, except for a baby on the third floor. He says first responders tried to rescue the infant but heavy smoke and falling debris made access impossible. The fire spread to three other houses, but no one else was injured. Investigators say their findings indicate the cause of the fire may have been electrical.
