(Lancaster, PA) -- House Minority Leader Bryan Cutler, who is a Republican from Lancaster, is warning that a newly-passed state spending plan will lead to "financial calamity." The Democratic plan was approved along party lines earlier this week and calls for spending almost a billion-and-a-half dollars more for schools than Governor Shapiro's original budget. Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Scott Martin, who is also a Republican from Lancaster, has said GOP legislators in the state Senate will not support the proposal because it would spend more money that the state takes in. Democrats say their plan can be supported fiscally and will address long-overdue needs.
