Reading Officials Pushing For State Mandated Rent Control

(Reading, PA) -- Reading City Council is moving forward with a resolution to request the state to adopt rent control legislation. Per the resolution passed last night, City Council believes in the need for reasonable guidelines to cap annual rent increases. Local officials say it's about protecting renters, many who are on fixed budgets. Councilmember Jaime Baez Junior introduced the legislation, saying he wanted to make a bold statement to state lawmakers.
