(Ontelaunee Township, PA) -- The Northern Berks Regional Police Department is going to remain in place to cover the region of Ontelaunee and Maidencreek townships as well as Leesport Borough. The department announced yesterday that it will stay in service despite the police commission's vote to disband the force last year. It will be launching a search for an interim chief soon because its current chief is set to retire later this year.
