A 26-year-old woman died after being hit by a motorcycle late Monday night in Reading, Pennsylvania. The incident occurred around 11:05 p.m. on the 700 block of Hiesters Lane. According to Reading police, the woman, identified as Ana L. Rosario-Baez of South Heidelberg Township, was crossing the road when the motorcycle struck her. She was taken to Reading Hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

The motorcyclist, identified as 20-year-old Joshua S. Malave from Reading, was traveling eastbound on Hiesters Lane when the accident happened. Malave reportedly did not see Rosario-Baez crossing the street midblock, leading to the collision. He was also taken to the hospital for evaluation of minor injuries.

The Reading Eagle reported that police have listed the improper crossing of the roadway by the pedestrian as the primary cause of the accident. No charges have been filed yet, but the investigation is ongoing.

WFMZ noted that the Berks County Coroner's Office has not released the victim's name until next of kin notification was made. The accident highlights the ongoing risks faced by both pedestrians and motorcyclists in urban areas.
