Authorities are investigating a shooting that occurred in Lancaster County on Wednesday night (January 7). The incident took place near South Sixth and Locust Streets in Columbia Borough shortly after 10:30 p.m. According to the Columbia Borough Police Department, officers found two men involved in a violent physical altercation. During the fight, one man shot the other, leaving the victim with life-threatening injuries. Both men were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The police have confirmed that the two men knew each other, and this was not a random incident, posing no threat to the general public. CBS 21 reports police have not released the names of those involved, and one person is currently in custody.
The investigation is ongoing, with authorities reviewing surveillance footage, collecting evidence, and speaking with potential witnesses. South Sixth Street remains closed between Locust and Cherry streets as the investigation continues.
