A Reading man, Kadrise Patience, wanted in connection with a 2021 murder, was apprehended on Thursday (April 16) in West Palm Beach, Florida, by the U.S. Marshals Service. Patience, 30, had been on the run after failing to appear in court for murder charges related to the fatal shooting of 32-year-old Orlando Rodriguez of Kenhorst. The charges stem from an incident on June 17, 2021, when Rodriguez was shot multiple times and later died at Reading Hospital.
Patience was initially arrested in 2022, but a judge dismissed the charges in 2024 due to insufficient evidence. However, the charges were reinstated following an appeal by Berks County District Attorney John Adams. Patience fled before a court hearing in November 2025 after realizing he would be taken back into custody. According to Reading Eagle, he was found hiding with family in Florida.
The U.S. Marshals Florida Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Eastern Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force located Patience at an apartment complex, where he initially provided false identification. He was positively identified and arrested without incident, then transported to the Palm Beach County jail.
Patience faces multiple charges, including first- and third-degree murder. His co-defendant, Magnum Morrison, was previously convicted of conspiracy in connection with the killing and sentenced to 15 to 30 years in prison. The case involved a drug-related operation, with investigators finding substantial marijuana and cash at the crime scene.
Authorities are now working to extradite Patience back to Pennsylvania to face the charges.
