A fallen tree caused a power outage affecting more than 1,500 Met-Ed customers in Reading, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday afternoon. The tree fell in the area of South Seventh and Haak streets, knocking out electricity and disrupting multiple traffic lights. Power was restored to most affected customers by 7 p.m.

According to WFMZ, the tree fell into a Met-Ed utility pole, disrupting power to nearly 2,000 customers. Met-Ed officials reported that they isolated the damage and temporarily switched customers to a different power line to restore electricity until crews could remove the tree and replace the pole.

Wind gusts of 45-55 mph were possible until 9 p.m. on Tuesday night, which contributed to the tree falling. Met-Ed officials advised customers to stay at least 30 feet away from any downed wires. Customers can report outages by calling 1-888-LIGHTS.
