Berks County Bridge Gets New Look

>>Berks County Bridge Gets New Lease On Life

(Greenwich Twp., PA) -- A bridge in Berks County that dates back to the dawn of the 20th century has been given a new lease on life. The 116-year-old Zettlemoyer's Bridge, which carries Long Lane over the Maiden Creek in Greenwich [GREEN-witch] Township, is set to reopen to vehicular traffic today. The 154-foot-long steel truss bridge has been closed since September 2012 because of the deterioration of its steel and an imposed weight limit of only three tons, officials said. The county initially planned to demolish the span rather than rehabilitate it, only to have the township step up and take on the repairs, costing one-point-seven million dollars.
