(Wyomissing, PA) -- A staff member at Wyomissing Hills Elementary is among the latest to test positive for COVID-19. In a letter to parents, the district’s superintendent says the employee was at the school last week. Now, all Wyomissing Hills’ first graders will be instructed virtually through next Friday, with hybrid education for those students beginning on Monday September 21st. It’s reported that seven Wyomissing students have tested positive for COVID-19, though none have attended in-person classes this school year.

(Lancaster, PA) -- Lancaster police are investigating the theft of a car from a Turkey Hill parking lot last month. The vehicle was taken Friday August 28th from the convenience store on West Clay Street. The owner had reportedly left the keys inside as he went into the store while a man stole the vehicle from the parking lot. Anyone with information on the theft is asked to contact Lancaster city police.

(Philadelphia, PA) -- A woman from Reading is admitting to her role in the sex trafficking of children in Berks County. Melissa Madera pleaded guilty to multiple charges of child exploitation and pornography, according to the U.S. attorney's office. The 27-year-old was accused of forcing two girls, ages 15 and 17, to meet with sex buyers at motels in Muhlenberg Township and Wyomissing between August and October 2017. Federal investigators say Madera supplied the girls with drugs like Ecstasy and cocaine to ensure their compliance, enough so that they were sometimes unable to attend school the next day.

(Reading, PA) -- Two men are charged in connection with the killing of another man in Reading more than six years ago. Investigators announced Friday that they obtained warrants for the arrests of Xavier and Eliezer Carrasquillo on charges of first- and third-degree murder. Xavier Carrasquillo surrendered to authorities on Friday while Eliezer is already in state prison. The charges stem from the deadly shooting of Brock Neely in the 200 block of South Eleventh Street on June 11th, 2014.
