The school board announced yesterday that it is expecting to get almost 52-million-dollars from the state. Board members say they will be working on plans for the next several months on how the district will use the new funds. The district will get more information on the COVID-19 relief when Governor Wolf presents his proposed state budget on February 2nd.

(Bern Township, PA) -- A man who is already behind bars for allegedly killing a U.S. Air Force veteran in Berks County is also being charged for a 2019 burglary. Raphael Perez Rodriguez is being accused of robbing a house on South Tulpehocken Road in Bern Township in June of 2019. Officials say that DNA collected from the robbery scene matched with DNA that was collected from another incident that involved Rodriguez breaking into a funeral home and shooting at an officer last year. He is being accused of stabbing a man to death just a month after attacking the officer at the funeral home.

(Reading, PA) -- Police are investigating a shooting in the city of Reading. The shooting happened last night in the 13-hundred-block of Hampden Boulevard. Police say a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the stomach was found on the scene. The Reading coroner reported to the scene as well, but the man's condition is currently unknown.

The Pennsylvania Lottery announced yesterday that a winning ticket worth one-million-dollars was sold at Gingrich's Food Market in Bainbridge. The store will be receiving a five-thousand-dollar bonus for selling the ticket. The lucky winner is being told to sign the back of the ticket and to contact the nearest lottery office to claim their prize.

(Rockland Township, PA) -- A smokehouse worth about five-thousand-dollars in Rockland Township is now destroyed after it caught on fire. The fire occurred yesterday morning in the first-block of Hertzog School Road. The eight-foot-by-eight-food wooden building was completely engulfed in flames by the time firefighters arrived. Officials say that burning embers left behind in the smokehouse caused the fire. No injuries were reported.
