(Reading, PA) -- Several immigration advocates are suing Berks County commissioners over future plans for the county's Residential Center in Bern Township. Make The Road Pennsylvania announced recently that it and other advocacy organizations have filed a lawsuit claiming that the commissioners board is violating the state's Sunshine Act by engaging with ICE about what will happen to the residential center without allowing opportunity for public input. Officials with the organization say they do not intend to force the county from stopping contact with ICE, but they want to hold the government accountable to have public discussions on what they're planning.
