>>Reading To Host COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic For R-S-D Students

(Reading, PA) -- Students at Reading School District are being encouraged to get vaccinated at a series of clinics that will be held on the next couple of Fridays. The first one will be held this Friday at the Southwest Middle School Auditorium located along Chestnut Street. Another one will be at the Northwest Middle School Auditorium along Front Street, and the final one will be on July 30th at the Reading High School Geigle Gymnasium located along North 13th Street. All the clinics will run from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

(Reading, PA) -- Reading Hospital is seeing a milestone that could suggest things are starting to get more back to normal. The hospital announced yesterday that it has zero COVID-19 inpatients for the first time in about 17 months. Over 32-hundred COVID-19 inpatients have been treated at the hospital since the beginning of the pandemic. Officials are encouraging people to get a vaccination at the clinic located at one-thousand Tuckerton Road in Muhlenberg Township.

(Reading, PA) -- Reading City Council is continuing its efforts to help keep the Fightin' Phils in the city. The council voted six-to-zero yesterday to commit to using three-million-dollars to help fund the upgrades needed at FirstEnergy Stadium. The M-L-B is requiring the improvements to the stadium to be done by opening day in 2023. Officials say the total cost for the required upgrades will be about 15-million-dollars. The Berks County Commissioners have also recently announced that the county is pledging three-million-dollars towards the project.

(Lancaster, PA) -- A Lancaster man is behind bars for allegedly punching a police officer in an attempt to elude capture. The incident happened Saturday afternoon when police tried to take Rashawn Melendez into custody at the Lancaster Township Community Park. Police say that as officers approached him, Melendez started fleeing on foot before he turned around and hit an officer in the face. He is being charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest and flight to avoid apprehension.

(Reading, PA) -- A man from Mexico is now behind bars for allegedly selling forgeries of paintings by Berks County-native Keith Haring. The F-B-I recently arrested Angel Pereda after investigators say he approached a couple of New York auction houses to sell artworks purportedly made by Haring. The Keith Haring Foundation helped authorities bust the scheme as officials determined the artworks offered to the auction houses were not made by the late Reading artist.
