(Berks County, PA) -- Two area ambulance services say some patients are not paying for EMS service. Western Berks Ambulance Service says about 180 patients this year have kept their insurance reimbursement checks rather than passing the money to the provider. The service says that adds up to more that 200-thousand a month. Reading EMTs say they are seeing the same trend. Both services say the effects of COVID on the economy are leading people to preserve their funds.
