>>Lancaster County Murder-Suicide Investigated

(Mount Joy Township, MI) -- Police in Lancaster County are investigating a murder-suicide Wednesday night in Mount Joy Township. Thirty-one-year-old Wesley Frey Jr. allegedly shot and killed his 61-year-old father, Wesley Frey Sr., with a crossbow about 9 p.m. The suspect was found dead in a room upstairs after police entered the home. 

>>Berks County Director Of Elections Resigns

(Reading, PA) -- Berks County is now opening up a search for a director of election services. Ronald Rutkowski has submitted his resignation, effective October 8th. He was hired after Debbie Olivieri retired on October 2nd, 2020. Rutkowski has been a Berks County employee for more than 16 years in the controller's office before moving to elections.

>>Safe Berks To Open Second Reading Office

(Reading, PA) -- A second Safe Berks office will be opened in Reading. The new office will be at 147 North Fifth Street and be home to their legal services staff along with some administrators. CEP Beth Garrigan says over the past nine years, services to domestic violence and sexual assault survivors have expanded greatly, and they have outgrown their Chestnut Street home. Safe Berks provides services for those victims for free.

>>Berks County Emergency Rental Assistance Program To End

(Reading, PA) -- Berks County residents who need help with rent and utility bills are running out of time for the county to help. The Berks County Emergency Rental Assistance Program will be ending October 4th after being in operation since March due to COVID-19. Applications received between October 4th and 18th will go on a waitlist. Those who have already applied can get help through their assigned reviewer.

>>RACC's Anniversary Gala To Feature Apple Co-Founder Steve Wozniak

(Reading, PA) -- Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak will be the keynote speaker at Reading Area Community College's 50th anniversary gala in November. Vice president of college advancement Anthony DeMarco told the county commission they have an endowment to pay for a speaker who was not either an entertainer or a politician. RACC's event will be November 10th at the Double Tree Hotel. Wozniak and Steve Jobs found Apple Computer in 1976.
