>>Holiday Season Officially Starts in Reading with Tree Lighting, Menorah Blessing

(Reading, PA) -- City leaders have kicked off the holiday season in Reading with the lighting of a huge Christmas tree and celebrating of a huge menorah downtown. Hanukkah officially started at sundown this past Sunday, but a blessing was proclaimed Thursday on the fifth night of the "Festival of Lights." The menorah will continue to mark the eight days of the Jewish observance. The tree features more than four-thousand colored lights and hundreds of red, green, and gold balls. It's topped by a white star.
