>>New Trial Date Set for Murder of Pottsville Business Owner in New Orleans

(New Orleans, LA) -- A new trial date has been set for a 28-year-old woman who is accused of killing Murphy Jeweler's owner Patrick Murphy of Pottsville in New Orleans. Megan Hall will go on trial for second-degree murder, armed robbery and obstruction of justice on April 18th. She is alleged to have  stabbed Murphy in the early morning hours nearly two years ago in a room at the Empress Hotel. A housekeeper discovered Murphy's body eight hours later. The coronavirus pandemic and hurricanes caused delays in the trial. Murphy and his family have operated Murphy Jewelers in downtown Pottsville since 1913. His civic involvement included service on the Pottsville Area school board.
