(Undated) - Here's the latest news: Friends have started a funeral donation fund in memory of young man killed in a crash on Interstate-78 Tuesday night. A fifth person has died from his injuries suffered in a series of related crashes on an eastern Pennsylvania interstate. The Assistant superintendent of Lancaster Schools has died after more than a year fighting cancer.

(Lancaster, PA) -- Friends have started a funeral donation fund in memory of young man killed in a crash on Interstate 78 Tuesday night. August "Gus" Schwartz was 20. He was one of five people killed in two crashes that night in Berks County. Organizers wrote on the fundraising site GoFundMe that Schwartz was driving home from Penn State to enjoy the Christmas holiday with his family and friends when he was hit by a school bus in the first of the two crashes. Nearly 41-thousand dollars have been raised for the fund, as of Friday morning.

(Reading, PA) -- A fifth person has died from his injuries suffered in a series of related crashes on an eastern Pennsylvania interstate. The Berks County has identified the victim as Joshua D. Del Toro. He was 21 and from Reading. State police are still investigating the twin crashes on Interstate 78 in Berks County. The first crash happened around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday when a 69-year-old Georgia woman who was driving an empty school bus failed to stop in a construction zone. About two hours later, the 64-year-old driver of a tractor-trailer that was being detoured off I-78 because of the earlier crash failed to slow down for stopped traffic and rear-ended a van, causing a chain-reaction crash.

(Lancaster, PA) -- The Assistant superintendent of Lancaster Schools is being remembered as an innovative educator who loved her work. Dr. Carol Powell, died Tuesday night after a yearlong battle with cancer. She was 56.  Powell also had overseen a team of curriculum experts in the district's Office of Teaching and Learning since 2016. In Powell's memory, the Lancaster Education Foundation plans to create a scholarship for aspiring educators graduating from McCaskey High School.

(Lancaster, PA) -- A Republican who's the state senate's education committee chair is running for governor. Sen. Scott Martin, of Lancaster County, has announced his intention to run on his campaign website and on his social media. Martin, who is 49, is a former Lancaster County commissioner, was first elected to the state senate in 2016. He becomes the second Republican state senator in a field that now numbers about 12.

(Lancaster, PA) -- A Reddit post has reportedly mobilized users and called on them to spam the job application website of Kellogg with fake applications. Workers at Kellogg's cereal plants have been striking for fair pay for almost two months. Earlier this week, company management announced they will hire 14-hundred permanent replacement workers after refusing to meet union demands. The striking workers are part of the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union.
