>>Students Recognized for Quick Thinking in Providing Emergency Help in Hamburg
(Hamburg, PA) -- Mayor George Holmes of Hamburg Borough has recognized four students for their cool heads during a medical emergency at Hamburg Area School District. Arwen Buchwalter, Matthew Curtis, Samantha Gruber and Madison Fisher received Certificates of Commendation at a recent city council meeting for helping a staff member during the emergency in November. Music teacher Leslie Weaver says the students jumped in when they saw that a member of what she calls "the Hamburg family" needed help. She said they followed instructions immediately and in a calm fashion and - quote - " demonstrated maturity and compassion beyond their years."
