(Reading, PA) -- The Reading Fire Department and the PA Rivers Chapter of the American Red Cross are working to make homes safer. The Sound the Alarm smoke detector installation event is scheduled for Saturday, April 30th, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Allentown. Any resident needing a smoke detector installed at no charge is asked to contact either the Reading Fire Department or the local Red Cross chapter. In 2021, Pennsylvania recorded the most deaths in house fires in the country.
