>>Reading City Council Tabling Requests for Use of Federal Relief Funds
(Reading, PA) -- Members of the Reading City Council are hearing from many nonprofits who'd like to get part of the city's federal American Rescue Plan Act funds. The council met Wednesday night to hear from organizations after introducing an ordinance this week that proposes to allocate the money. A little more than five-million- dollars would go to 15 nonprofits as nominated by the mayor and ten that are chosen by a committee of councilmembers. Ultimately, the Council's Committee of the Whole decided to reconvene next Monday to finalize the process.
